ABOUT MADHU
I moved to Ventura in 2005 with my husband Saurabh and 1 year old son and fell in love with this sweet beach town. As new owners of FASTSIGNS of Ventura, we were looking forward to becoming a part of the community and quickly got involved with the Chamber of Commerce and other organizations.
It was natural for me to volunteer at my son's schools as I had devoted my early career to youth and education working for Girls Scouts in San Diego; Camp Laurel, a camp for children living with HIV/AIDS; and a literacy organization that brought teens and preschoolers together to develop a love of reading.
Locally, I have worked in nonprofit management supporting boards, volunteers and fundraising. I am a skilled listener and communicator. My strengths are in needs assessment, program design and evaluation, grant writing, building consensus through collaboration and grassroots fundraising.
This year, I completed a certificate in fundraising. I want to be more effective in bringing resources to local causes. Strong fundraising is vital to support and sustain the good work happening in our community.

SERVICE
As a child I found great joy in volunteering with Girl Scouts. As an adult, my life's mission is to be involved in my community and inspire children and adults to find meaningful ways to give back.
After volunteering as a grant reader and supporting as a donor for many years, I joined the board of Ventura Education Partnership in 2016. In 2017 I assumed a leadership role as President of the all volunteer organization that supports Ventura Unified School District. During my first year, I focused on increasing board member engagement and evaluation of the grants program. In the 2018/19 school year I plan to focus on fundraising to support more classroom grants and building new partnerships. During the 2017/18 school year, I coordinated Teacher/Staff Appreciation activities at De Anza Academy of Technology and Arts. As generationOn's Kindness Ambassador I worked with teens from the local Boys and Girls Club to brainstorm and facilitate several kindness projects including a kindness tree and wrapping and giving toys to children in need. I have facilitated student driven service learning projects with 5th graders in the areas of food insecurity, global water issues and kindness. As Chair for United Way of Ventura County’s Day of Caring I developed new family volunteer projects and strengthened the program through evaluation. I served on the Citrus Glen Elementary PTA from 2010 to 2011 as VP Cultural Affairs. In addition to organizing cultural programs for students I facilitated many activities including the jog-a-thon, book fair, newsletter, parent/teacher survey, strategic planning & more. |
